The weather is warming and summer is right around the corner, which means one thing: it’s hard seltzer season.
Personally, I’m not a huge fan, but I’m a terrible judge because I don’t like ANY carbonated beverages. That being said, I can’t deny the insane popularity of hard seltzers, and there are about 500 different kinds of the market right now.
I left fat & protein off this guide because they all equal zero. A lot of people assume that alcohol is all carbs, but that’s not the case at all. As you can see by this guide, all these seltzers are very low carb!
Alcohol itself is technically its own macronutrient, we just don’t count it with the big 3 because it’s not essential for us. Every gram of alcohol contains 7 calories, which is why your drink will always have calories but essentially 0g of everything else. In other words, don’t hold your breath for a zero cal alcoholic drink!
A lot of people ask if they can still drink alcohol when dieting, and the answer is: of course! Like any other food that may not be ideal in your diet, moderation is key. At only 100 calories, you can EASILY enjoy a drink or two and stay perfectly on track. People largely avoid alcohol because it doesn’t provide any other nutritional benefit, but that doesn’t mean it can’t be enjoyed on occasion!
And this should go without saying, but I should add: please drink responsibly.
