UI/UX

Building an online presence for a powerful Detroit nonprofit.

Downtown Boxing Gym is an incredible place. Not only do they help keep Detroit’s youth off the streets, they also enrich their lives through tutoring, mentorship, and of course, boxing. The gym’s previous website was outdated and did not reflect the positivity they are looking to convey. Through education, athletics, mentorship and intervention, the Downtown Boxing Gym empowers Detroit students to be positive and productive members of society, and my personal mission way to ensure their new website accurately reflected that mission.

Donating made simple

Implementation of an internal donate process.

The previous website for the Downtown Boxing Gym housed a donate button that linked out to PayPal, where you had to carry out a donation within their system. While it was functional, this was not an ideal process. Under my guidance, we were able to build out an internal donate form on the website that allows a donor to quickly and easily make a donation, even if they are using a mobile device. By not requiring a donor to click through to a third-party (and having a toggle option to create a monthly recurring donation), Downtown Boxing Gym will see increased conversions and more donations moving forward.

Lead nurturing

Contact management made simple.

Downtown Boxing Gym has many reasons for people to reach out to them- volunteer opportunities, donation questions, scheduling a tour, joining the student waitlist, or any other general contact. Previously, if a user wanted to reach out for any of these reasons, they were required to seek out the corresponding link on the website, which led to a related Google Form to fill out. Through the redevelopment of the site, I was able to build intuitive, user friendly forms that allow a person to reach out to Downtown Boxing Gym for any reason, and conditional logic allows someone to easily choose the contact reason and provide the necessary information accordingly.
