It’s not always about losing weight.
Of course, when we think of “diets”, we tend to think about weight loss. But the way we choose to eat is about so much more than our weight.
If going Keto helps you lose weight, but it makes you absolutely miserable, then it is probably not the best diet for you.
If eating a large meal at night with intermittent fasting is causing you to have trouble sleeping, then it is probably not the best diet for you.
Eating ice cream isn’t “optimal” if you want to lose weight. But if it brings you joy or makes it easier to stick to a caloric deficit in the longterm, then you should allow yourself to eat some ice cream.
That doesn’t mean everyone should eat ice cream. Maybe dairy makes you feel like hot garbage, in which case your diet probably shouldn’t include it. But if you love it, you shouldn’t have to cut it out completely.
Only you know what is best for you.
Don’t force yourself to stick with a particular diet just because you hear it is supposed to help. There has never been, and never will be, a one-size-fits-all diet. They simply do not exist.
Losing weight is only part of the bigger picture. Your overall health, both physical and mental, should always be the top priority.
